EASTER – THE RESURRECTION

Memory Verse:
“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new
creation.”

2 Corinthians 5:17.

During April The Explorers will focus on the death and
resurrection of Jesus and what that means for our lives today.

The butterfly has long been a Christian symbol of resurrection
for it disappears into a cocoon and appears dead, but emerges
later far more beautiful and powerful than before.

Blastoff Week (April 3)

The children will be listening to the story of what happened on Easter
Sunday focusing on the resurrection and the empty tomb. They will do a
craft symbolizing the new life we have in Jesus.

Drama Week (April 10)

There will be a Memory Verse Hunt and a Road to Easter Game along
with a dramatized interview with Mary Magdalene and Salome.

Technology Week (April 17)

The children will have a "Movie Day" and watch the end of the Jesus
Movie.

Life Application Week (April 24- Easter Sunday)

We will have an Easter Egg Hunt and decorate paper eggs if there is time.Explorers Teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18211923409165416725noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8540062288954988540.post-43396104108771624772011-01-18T04:41:00.001-08:002011-01-18T04:41:22.079-08:00January Messy ChurchMessy Church is Saturday, January 29th at 4:30. THE KINGDOM OF GOD – “THERE WILL BE NO

HUNGER”

– JESUS FEEDS 5,000

John 6: 1-15)

(

Memory Verse:
"He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without
cost from the spring of the water of life." Revelation 21:6.

The explorers are starting the new year by investigating the miracles of
Jesus and how they relate to the kingdom of heaven. This month we look at
the feeding of the 5000 from 5 loaves and 2 fish. The focus of these miracles
is to highlight the breaking in of the new kingdom that will be fully realized
in the New Jerusalem. We will also be making connections as to what that
means for our lives today.

Blastoff Week (January 9)

The children will be listening to the story of the feeding of the 5000.
They will then be involved in the process of making food to help them
enter the story.

Drama Week (January 16)

We will be looking at how great a miracle feeding 5000 from 2 fish and
5 loaves is. 5000 is a large number to be explored and made concrete
through dramatic exercises.

Technology Week (January 23)

The children will have a "Movie Day" that focuses on the miracles of
Jesus.

Life Application Week (January 30)

The children will be participating in games relating to the story.Explorers Teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18211923409165416725noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8540062288954988540.post-39836009979872208022010-12-09T12:49:00.000-08:002010-12-09T12:49:36.960-08:00Exploring in December! The Explorers in December

“Advent: John the Baptist announces
Jesus” (Matthew 3)

Memory verse: “I baptize you with water, but one who is more powerful that I
is coming. I am not worthy to untie the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize
you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Luke 3:16

This Advent month the Explorers (ages 5-11) are going to be learning
about the coming of Jesus through studying the story of John the
Baptist. During Advent, we not only remember the coming of Jesus at
his birth, we also focus on His coming again. We celebrate both the
coming Kingdom of God and the birth of the Messiah while we also face
the brokenness of the world that the Messiah has entered into. John’s
announcement of Jesus and his call to repentance are one of the ways we
hope to begin to teach the children the nature of this ‘advent waiting’.

Blastoff Week (December 5th):

The children will listen to the story of John the Baptist. Following this, children will work on Advent decorations for the Sunday School
Christmas tree. Many thanks to Don Ure for finding such a beautiful tree for the children to
decorate.

Drama Week (December 12th):

The children will be guided through dramatic exercises that help them reflect on the meaning of the John the Baptist story.

Technology Week (December 19th):

This month, the children will have a “movie day”, complete with hot chocolate and popcorn, and will get to watch an animated version of the John the Baptist story.

December 26th and January 2nd:

we will have a break from our usual Explorers curriculum. Children can choose from a number of supervised activities: skating (on the expanded rink behind the CEC building), watching a movie or working on an art project.Explorers Teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18211923409165416725noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8540062288954988540.post-76076435406793211732010-11-10T08:05:00.001-08:002010-11-10T08:05:09.217-08:00The Explorers in November

The kids have brought in close to $50 for the giving jar since our last project. Two weeks ago, they agreed to use the money to fill two shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child Program through Samaritan's Purse. This past Sunday they split into groups to choose if they would shop for boys or girls and note what items they thought would be best to send abroad. You can find out more about Operation Christmas Child on the Samaritan's Purse website here.Explorers Teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18211923409165416725noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8540062288954988540.post-18676627300435300922010-10-08T18:37:00.000-07:002010-10-08T18:37:09.207-07:00Exploring in October!

Welcome to the blog for the Explorers program. This blog will be used as a tool for parents, teachers and kids who are a part of the Explorers to share ideas, updates and interesting things that relate to our program.
We are excited to have launched our new fall program. This month we are exploring the friendship of David and Jonathan. The story of David and Jonathan can be found in 1 Samuel 18 and 19.Explorers Teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18211923409165416725noreply@blogger.com0
